Anycord Privacy Policy

Anycord ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that records text-to-speech audio from websites. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

What data we collect
The Extension collects and stores the following data locally on your device only:

A list of your recording filenames, timestamps, and file sizes (for the in-extension history list)
Your Pro license key, if you have activated one
Your Pro status (free or Pro)
This data is stored using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API and never leaves your device.

Audio recordings
Audio recordings are saved directly to your computer's Downloads folder. We do not upload, transmit, or store your recordings on any server. We have no access to the content of your recordings.

License key verification
When you activate a Pro license key, the Extension contacts Gumroad's license verification API (api.gumroad.com) to confirm the key is valid. This request includes your license key and the product identifier. We do not store or log this request beyond Gumroad's own systems. Please refer to Gumroad's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle this data.

Permissions used
tabCapture — to capture audio from the active browser tab for recording
downloads — to save the recorded audio file to your Downloads folder
storage — to save your recording history and Pro status locally
tabs / activeTab / scripting — to identify and interact with the tab being recorded
windows — to open the Anycord recorder as a standalone window
Third-party services
The Extension uses Google Fonts (DM Sans, DM Mono) to display its interface. This causes your browser to make a request to Google's servers for font files. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

Pro purchases are processed by Gumroad. We do not handle or store payment information.

Children's privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Extension changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
